Hey HN, I built this for my own workflow: too much time lost copying text from Notes/Slack/etc. to ChatGPT/Claude and back. Wanted a simple way to query LLMs without leaving the app.

Promptix is a small Mac app that triggers on a hotkey for any selected text:

- Translate

- Fix grammar

- Rewrite/improve

- Summarize

- Text as prompt

- Custom prompts (e.g., "Convert bug report to PR description")

Key features:

- Works in any app: browsers, IDEs, terminals, etc.

- Bring your own key: OpenAI, Anthropic, or any OpenAI-compatible (including local like Ollama). No limits or costs from me.

- Runs locally on your Mac: full privacy, no data leaves (only selected text).

- 5 defaults prompts + unlimited customs.

Feedback or ideas welcome. What prompts would you customize?
